“ Fun little dining experience here, the decor is very true to the name. There are so many options on the menu that are delicious, the chicken cheesesteak soup, deviled eggs, cheesesteak balls, popcorn chicken and pulled chicken sandwich are all good options, we had many at our table, the chicken and waffles are good as well. The owner was very kind and so was everyone else working there, also the music playing there were all the greatest hits #food #chicken #dinner ”
“ Everything was delicious in a small intimate setting. We had a reservation and were seated within five minutes or so. Our server was extremely polite and attentive the first time we went. All of the dishes were absolutely tasty. The only thing I didn't enjoy that much, was the banana pudding because it was made with banana flavored pudding instead of vanilla pudding. They had run out of cornbread dressing, so we were offered the cornbread and accompanying sauces. The variety of sauces were simply delectable. The cornbread was moist and delicious, but I would've preferred the cornbread dressing. The greens were seasoned perfectly. The fried chicken was very tasty with a creative presentation! The deviled eggs were good, but the fried chicken skin on top was cold and it tasted like it had been refrigerated for a while. While it was still good, I would have preferred a freshly prepared, set of deviled eggs. This place is BYOB. The smoked chicken wings were tasty, but they needed to have been cooked a little longer. They were tough. Oh, the fried pies... OMG!!!! ”
“ We absolutely loved the food, and the service was excellent. The sauces are simply delectable, adding a unique and delicious flavor to every dish. We especially enjoyed the popcorn chicken—it was a standout! If you're ever in Philadelphia, you have to visit the Black Hen ”
“ Absolutely DELICIOUS! Not one complaint! Added bonus was my guilty splurge....crispy peach cobbler! Not certain how this restaurant received 3.9 but coming from a foodie and very critical customer when it comes to food, SHOUT out to Mani, for EXCELLENT service! She was attentive, pleasant and made sure we were OK, during our dining experience! We will be back! ”

“ The food was very good. And it came out FAST. The waiter Shay was a great help to us. This place is great for date nights. Once again, the food was great. The Mac n cheese and greens and cheese steak beignets are top tier. ”
“ I'm so glad I finally checked out Blackhen. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of sides and sauces on the menu. I started with the deviled eggs (10/10—the yolk filling was full of flavor!). For the main course, I had the quarter dark meat chicken platter with candied yams, green beans with smoked turkey, and the Golden Sunrise BBQ sauce. While the chicken pieces were smaller than I expected, the portion included three, which was more than satisfying. For something sweet, I finished with the crispy peach cobbler hand pies (served with an incredible sauce) and absolutely loved them. Shay, my server, was attentive and made sure I had everything I needed. One of the chefs, who had an amazing smile, even came out to say hello. I’ll definitely be back! ”
“ Let me start off by saying that the ambiance in this place is amazing. It’s such a good vibe from the moment you step in. Our server Rachel was amazing. We were sat within about 7 minutes of us walking in on an early Friday evening. The service was fast and good. All of the food was served hot and very good. Everything was packed with flavor. The Mac and cheese was very cheesy and was a big portion. The yams were good and the chicken was good had a very good flavor and a good crunch to it just like I like it. The chicken dip was also very good and did not have that overbearing hot sauce taste to it. I loved that it had that good baked cheesy top to it. The deviled eggs were amazing. Loved the sweet taste they had to them and that crunchy piece of chicken skin. Now that refreshing tropical lemonade topped it off and brought it all together. Food was amazing, service amazing and ambience amazing. Can’t wait to go back and try something else. ”
